Based in Frankland River and reporting to the General Manager, the Vineyard Estate Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the vineyard?s performance in relation to the implementation and monitoring of all operational strategies.

The Swinney vineyard is a family owned 250 ha vineyard situated in the Frankland River region of Western Australia. Swinney has developed an outstanding reputation as a long-term supplier of high-quality wine grapes to many of Western Australia?s premium wine producers as well as production of the family?s own Swinney wine label, which includes the acclaimed Farvie wines.

As the recent recipient of the inaugural ?Young Gun of Wine - Australian Vineyard of the Year? trophy, Swinney is recognised as combining both modern and Old-World viticultural techniques. These techniques are executed with precision through a combination of detailed manual work and state-of-the-art technology that are underpinned with an environmental focus.

While the vineyard is predominantly Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling, other varieties established include Malbec, Mencia, Cinsault, Counoise, Pinot Gris, Vermentino, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay and bush vine plantings of Grenache, Mourvčdre and Tempranillo. The business continues to expand its area under vine, with an emphasis on clonal and varietal selection.

Job Requirements
Crucial to the success of this function is a passion for viticulture and the production of fine wine. Similarly, an obsessive focus on attention to detail, impressive leadership abilities and people management qualities, highly developed organisational and communication expertise and a commitment to our mission of producing fruit and wine of extraordinary quality.

The prosperous applicant will receive a highly attractive level of remuneration, reflecting their practice and qualifications in addition to generous onsite accommodation and a fully maintained vehicle.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

? Develop viticultural strategies and objectives and manage their implementation
? Develop and manage all budgets and ensure accurate and timely reporting
? Develop ESG strategies and objectives and manage their implementation
? Work closely with the Swinney wine business team to ensure fruit quality, farming methods, marketing and other objectives are realized
? Continue to elevate fruit quality across the vineyard while ensuring cost effective operations at all time
? Drive innovation, identify growth opportunities and seek continuous increasement
? Implement systems and procedures (i.e. financial, quality control, OHS, other) and compliance with industry and customer standards and regulations
? Manage external customer relationships, including suppliers, and generally represent the business as required

Qualifications and practice

? A Bachelor?s Degree in Viticulture and/or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution
? 10 years + practice in viticultural management positions
? practice with organic and or biodynamic viticultural practices
? Significant practice in cool climate viticulture and the production of ultra-premium grapes and wine
? A passion for viticulture and fine wine
? A high level of self ? confidence and ambition

candidates must have Australian citizenship/residency or a valid existing Australian work visa.
