Control Room Operators are responsible for the safe and effective operation of rail vehicles within Dry Creek Railcar Depot including the interface between the 'Operators' Drivers and the Alstom controlled network area

Description
In relation to Control Room Activities
   » Operate the train control panel which includes an automated signalling system
   » Controls, directs and monitors the safe and efficient movement of all rail vehicles within Dry Creek Railcar Depot
   » Controls, directs and monitors all track workers and maintenance employees, sub-contractors and third parties within Dry Creek Railcar Depot
   » Solid knowledge of the 25kV electrical environment, whether the sections are live/dead and the reporting of faults/issues to the 'Operator's Electrical Control Office
   » Carry out radio communications in a safe, clear and effective manner.
   » In the event of any service disruption, initiates procedures with a view to restoring services to normal, notifies emergency services as circumstances dictate and determines the need to inform senior staff and main customers of disruptions and subsequent actions taken
   » Provides train information to civil engineering, communications, other staff and contractors and customers as required
   » In the absence of local Alstom Management, ensures an appropriate response to unplanned events
   » Provides up to date information to the 'Operators' personnel
   » Manage arrival and departure of the 'Operators' scheduled and unscheduled services to Dry Creek Railcar Depot
   » Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to.
In relation to Marshalling Activities:
   » Assisting with the effective and economic management of day to day marshalling function
   » Provide rail vehicles in conformity with the 'Operators' consist diagram
   » Provide timely support and advice to the Service Coordinators, other Alstom staff and contractors as required.
   » Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to
   » Carry out radio communications in a safe and effective manner.
Safety and Environment Responsibilities
Personal:
   » Ensure that staff under their control perform their tasks in a safe manner in conformity with Divisional procedures and Statutory requirements
   » Identify delegated responsibilities within the Group
   » Investigate and report any accidents and incidents within their Group
   » Communicate efficiently, including briefing of staff
Profile
To be considered you must have the following:
   » SA driving license
   » exceptional communications and interpersonal expertise
   » Fluent in English
   » Able to work alone or as part of a team.
   » Must be able to make decisions regarding releasing of railcars onto the 'Operators' network
   » practice in a fast-paced maintenance environment, capability to carry out multiple tasks to ensure safe passenger railcars are available
   » Able to work alone or as part of a team.
   » Must be able to make decisions regarding releasing of railcars onto the 'Operators' network

Desirable:
   » Trade qualified (Mech, Elec, Coachbuilder etc.)
   » Knowledgeable of Microsoft Products
