Conveniently situated near the outer harbour port, we support local wineries with all their bottling, dry goods supply, labelling, warehousing and distribution needs. With the capacity to bottle up to 9,000 bottles an hour, we can support both the smaller players and the larger wineries with all their contract wine bottling needs. More importantly, we believe in delivering exceptional service and support so that your wine bottling practice is as smooth and robust as the wine you make. The position of Winemaker reports to the Managing Director and will involve close liaison with administration and the Bottling Line Manager. This position is influenced by consumer demand, and deadlines as such, hours of work are expected to be flexible to meet these demands. Job Requirements REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to: Managing Director Direct reports: Laboratory Technician, Cellar hand PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Preparation of wines for bottling. Ensure conformity to deadlines, packaging and customer specifications, including control of wines once in a bottle ready condition (for in-house bottling). ? Implement procedures ensuring the process of bottling occurs with a minimum impact on wine quality. ? Coordinate and supervise all laboratory analysis and operations relating to bottling ? Preparation and maintenance of Laboratory operating procedures and work instructions. Evaluation of analytical practices, organising trials and innovative ideas to increase site efficiency. ? Maintenance of accurate production data and reports. ? Implement day to day operational winemaking activities in the cellar to ensure optimum wine quality: Supervision and analyses for dispatch clearances (export, domestic, packaging). Assistance in the preparation of analytical reports for export and customer correspondence ? Ensure operations and records are kept in line with LIP and Organic requirements ? Coordinate laboratory and/or cellar operations. ? contact with Administration Manager for preparation of export approval applications, samples and reports as needed. ? Ensure that equipment, work practices and hygiene under the incumbent's control are maintained to optimum operational standard. Position may be required to attend various marketing activities to boostthe Company and its products. Position may also be required to attend various technical conferences. TRAINING AND practice REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION ? Appointee is expected to have tertiary qualification in Oenology plus several years of operational winemaking practice in a position of medium responsibility essential. ?
