Over the past 25 years we have built a reputation for premium grape growing in the Adelaide Hills. We are presently operating 50ha and are seeking a key long term, dedicated vineyard hand to support our future growth to 60+ ha. Over the past few years, we have planted more then 30,000 vines a mixture of new Pinot Noir clones, Gamay, Riesling and high-density Shiraz. We are continuing this planting schedule with future developments of Pinot Gris and Cabernet Franc to supplement the continuing growth of Howard Vineyards wine business. Trending towards organic fertilizers and non-chemical weed control techniques to manage vine health, inter-vine groundcover, build soil ecology, increase soil health through under vine cultivation as well as mid row cropping. Through our Bio diversity Action plan we are restoring creek lines, dam surrounds and drainage lines to native vegetation by continuing removal of woody and grassy weeds (arum lily, willow suckers, broom, wild olive, phalaris and blackberry) and implementing further replanting programs, including beneficial insect species We are a member of Sustainable Wine Growing Australia, Eco ? Job Requirements ABOUT THE POSITION An exciting chance exists for an practiced Vineyard Hand to join our dynamic and growing organisation. The role is a Full Time position based in the Adelaide Hills at our Nairne and Charleston vineyards. This is a hands-on role reporting to the Viticulture Manager. There is a small amount of machinery work, however this is a vine quality and structure and vineyard increasement role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ? General vineyard tasks including; vine training, pruning, shoot and bunch thinning etc. ? General vineyard maintenance including post replacement, trellis repair, irrigation installation, maintenance and repair. ? Tractor driving operations including slashing, spraying, trimming and under-vine maintenance. ? Other maintenance tasks as required. expertise AND practice ? Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. ? Able to work efficiently in isolation and as part of a team. ? Driver?s License essential. Forklift licence desirable. ? Previous practice with vineyard operations. ?
